On the job, you will ... 

  • Analyze, test and evaluate computer networking systems   
  • Perform maintenance so that networks operate correctly and with few interruptions 
  • Analyze networks’ data to determine network usage, how much disk space is available and how the server is functioning 
  • Set up the guidelines for installing or testing local area networks (LANs) or wide area networks (WANs) and configure server and network security settings 
  • Work with advanced computer hardware, network concepts, applied networking, laptops and mobile devices, printers, virtualization and cloud computing, and Windows installation and configuration  
  • Address cyberattacks and maintain cybersecurity

The credentials you will earn ... 

In the Advanced Cisco-Certified Network Associate Cyber Security Ops training program, you will earn industry-recognized credentials from organizations such as the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) and Cisco. Credentials such as these show that students are ready for positions in computer programming and repair. 

Students should also earn a state-issued learner’s permit and driver’s license upon completion of the program. 

 What you’ll need to start training ... 

  • High school diploma or equivalent (can be earned at all Job Corps centers) 
  • Completion of Job Corps’ basic Computer Technician program 
  • Meet academic (math and reading) requirements 
  • At least 17 years old  
  • Positive attendance and progress record 
  • Written recommendation from Job Corps center personnel  
  • Health clearance at current center  
  • Strong work ethic and determination to succeed  
  • Have a positive behavior record 
  • Complete a successful phone or in-person interview
